Fish Bowl- Get It Started • What are your favorite things about the book? Characters, plot, etc? • Which character do you connect with the most? Why? • Why did Hollis’s first grade teacher put a big X on her drawing? How would you have felt if that happened to you? Why? • Why is Hollis pre-occupied with thoughts of the Regans while she is living with Josie? • Describe Hollis’s first fishing experience. How is this similar to a first experience you have had? • Why does Hollis not want to think about her “W” picture while she is living with Josie? • How does Beatrice’s praise of her art affect Hollis? Why? • What does Hollis realize she will have to do to stay with Josie? Could you do that if you were in a similar situation? • How would you describe the relationship between Hollis and Stephen? How is it different from people she’s met in the past? Do you have a relationship like this one in your life? Do you wish you did?
