Deployment Scenarios and Signalling Methods for Enablement Date: 2010-Sepetember Authors: Zhou Lan NICT
Abstract • This presentation clarifies the deployment scenarios and the usage of Public Action Frame, Protected Dual of Public Action Frame and RLQP for each scenario Zhou Lan NICT
Deployment Scenario 1 • The Enabling STA (AP) and the dependent STAs are on the same TVWS channel • Dependent STAs can only use passive scan to obtain enabling signal • Dependent STAs may use Public Action Frame (PAF), Protected Dual of Public Action Frame (PDPAF) and Registered Location Query Protocol (RLQP) to access the enabling STA for enablement BSS 1 on TVWS channel #1 Enabling STA (AP) Dependent STAs Enabling signal on Channel #1 (passive scan) obtain channel list PAF/PDPAF/RLQP TVWS database Internet Zhou Lan NICT
Deployment Scenario 2 • There is TVB enabler in the internet that enables the dependent AP to obtain channel list via it • Dependent STAs can only use passive scan to obtain enabling signal from dependent AP on channel #1 • Before authentication, dependent STAs may use PAF, RLQP to access dependent AP for enablement • After authentication, dependent STAs may use PDPAF,RLQP to access the dependent AP for enablement BSS 1 on TVWS channel #1 TVB enabler Enabling signal on Channel #1(passive scan) RLQP to obtain channel list PAF/PDPAF/RLQP Dependent AP Dependent STAs TVWS database Internet Slide 4 Zhou Lan NICT
Deployment Scenario 3 • The Enabling STA (AP) and the dependent STAs are on different TVWS channels • Dependent STAs can only use passive scan to obtain enabling signal on channel #1 from the dependent AP or channel #2 from the enabling STA • Before authentication, dependent STAs may use PAF, RLQP to access the enabling STA on channel #2 or dependent AP on channel #1 for enablement • After authentication, dependent STAs may use PDPAF,RLQP to access the enabling STA on channel #2 or dependent AP on channel #1 for enablement BSS 2 on TVWS channel #2 Enabling STA BSS 1 on TVWS channel #1 Enabling signal on Channel #2 (passive scan) RLQP to obtain channel list PAF /PDPAF/RLQP Enabling signal on Channel #1 (passive scan) Dependent AP Dependent STAs TVWS database PAF /PDPAF/RLQP Internet Slide 5 Zhou Lan NICT
Deployment Scenario 4 • The Enabling STA (AP) is in a BSS on 2.4/5GHz bands • STAs can use passive scan and active scan to obtain enabling signal on 2.4GHz or passive scan on the channel #1 on TVWS or 5GHz bands • Before authentication, dependent STAs may use PAF, RLQP to access the enabling STA on 2.4/5GHz or dependent AP on channel #1 for enablement • After authentication, dependent STAs may use PDPAF,RLQP to access the enabling STA on 2.4/5GHz or dependent AP on channel #1for enablement BSS 2 on 2.4/5GHz BSS 1 on TVWS channel #1 Enabling STA Enabling signal on 2.4/5GHz (passive and active scan) PAF/PLQP/RLQP RLQP to obtain channel list Enabling signal on channel #1(passive) Dependent AP TVWS database Dependent STAs PAF/PLQP/RLQP Internet Slide 6 Zhou Lan NICT
