Repeal of Residency Statute §36.27(2)(cr) • 2011-2013 Biennial Budget included a repeal of provision that provides exemption from nonresident tuition for a “person who is a citizen of a country other than U.S.” • Students who begin classes in any term after 7/1/11 are not eligible for nonresident tuition exemption. • Students previously granted exemption from nonresident tuition will no longer be eligible to receive the exemption.
Wisconsin-Minnesota Reciprocity • WI residents will still be able to pay in-state tuition rates if they attend MN state university, college, or technical college • Subsidy still available for students who enroll at MN campuses this year, but discontinued after 2014-2015 school year • More than 10,000 WI residents take advantage of tuition reciprocity program each year
Wisconsin Covenant • The Covenant will sunset this year • Freshmen have until Sept. 30 to sign the Pledge • Print and send form or complete online at www.wisconsincovenant.wi.gov • Pick up posters and bookmarks at the UW HELP table
Wisconsin Covenant • Each school has a designated “primary contact” that the (State) Office of the Wisconsin Covenant communicates with • Primary contact has list of Covenant students in your school • Counsel Covenant students to stay on the college prep track and meet Pledge requirements • Remind Covenant seniors to be attentive to deadlines
Wisconsin Covenant • UW campuses welcomed the first class of Covenant Scholars this fall semester. • UW Wisconsin Covenant coordinator(s) will be available during our break and after the workshop to answer questions • What do UW Wisconsin Covenant coordinators do? • Provide outreach to Covenant students • Create opportunities for Covenant Scholars • Connect Covenant Scholars to campus resources • Assist school counselors in their areas
Wisconsin eTranscript • 122 Wisconsin high schools participating (18%) • 29,858 students among participating schools (39%) • Madison schools will soon be sending eTranscripts • 100% of UWS, WAICU, & WTCS colleges and universities are registered to receive eTranscripts

Wisconsin eTranscript High schools encouraged to include fields for: • Wisconsin Student Number (WSN) • Wisconsin Covenant student (yes or no)
Wisconsin eTranscript Implementation fee changes: • Option 1 – High school subsidizes electronic transcripts on an annual basis. Rate is based on senior count. Paper rate remains at $4.25. • Option 2 – Students pay on a per transaction basis ($2.55/eTranscript and $4.25 for paper).
