Course Requirements—4 units Area of Study: ENGLISH 9th Grade—9th Literature/Composition 10th Grade—10th Literature/Composition 11th Grade—American Literature 12th Grade—English Literature or Advanced Composition
Course Requirements—4 units Area of Study: MATH 9th Grade—Algebra/ Accel Algebra-Geo 10th Grade—Geometry/ Accel Geometry-Adv Alg 11th Grade—Adv Algebra / Accel Pre-Cal 12th Grade—Pre-Calculus, Adv Math Decision Making, Math of Finance/ AP Statistics/ AP Calculus
Course Requirements—4 units Area of Study: SCIENCE 9th Grade—Biology (required) 10th Grade—*Physical Science/ Chemistry 11th Grade—Chemistry, *Physics, Environmental Science, Earth Systems, or Zoology 12th Grade—one additional Science unit *One full unit of either Physical Science or Physics is required for graduation.
Course Requirements—3 units Area of Study: SOCIAL STUDIES 9th Grade—No requirements 10th Grade—World History 11th Grade—U.S. History 12th Grade—Government/Economics (½ unit each)
Course RequirementsArea of Study: CTAE, Foreign Language, or Fine Arts • 3 units of credit from any combination of the following: • CTAE (Career, Technical and Agricultural Education)/JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) • Foreign Language • Fine Arts
Area of Study: Health and Personal Fitness 1 unit of Health and Personal Fitness Health is a ½ unit Personal Fitness is a ½ unit **3 years of JROTC meets the Health and Personal Fitness requirement for graduation Area of Study: Electives 4 units of additional electives which can be satisfied from any area of study.
Assessment Requirements • All students must pass the Georgia High School Graduation Writing Test (GHSGWT) to be eligible for a diploma • All students are required to pass courses associated with the End of Course Test (EOCT), with the EOCT being 20% of the course grade • EOCT Courses include: • 9th Lit Algebra Biology US History Amer Lit Geometry Physical Sci Economics
General Information • 6 classes taken each semester • Report cards given each 9 weeks (2 mid-semester and 2 end-semester • Grades are cumulative until end of semester. • Grades at the end of a semester are final and recorded on transcript • 1 satisfied unit of Math, English, and Science is required to enter a sophomore homeroom
Extracurricular Activities • Students entering the 9th grade for the first time are eligible to participate in all competitive extra curricular activities. • Students must pass 5 of 6 courses • each semester and be on track to • graduate to remain eligible.
Freshman Academy • Any student failing 9th lit, biology, or algebra will be in FA • This will be a study hall/remediation time period • Grade checks every 2weeks • If all grades are passing at the grade check, then the student will not be in FA
