Purpose of Migration Matters: To encourage community cohesion and address the impact of migration on local services in Northumberland, through a coordinated programme of projects, delivered by a multi-partnership approach Governance: Located within Stronger Communities Thematic Partnership, feeding into Safer Northumberland Report to Government Office North East (GONE)
Background £70 million Migration Impact Fund announced March 2009 – over two years The long term benefit to the UK economy from migration is significant, but short term funding was needed to support communities manage local pressures from migration Northumberland Strategic Migration Framework produced July 2009 Linked with Sustainable Community Strategy 2008-11 ‘Migration Matters’ bid April 2009
