Pure Substance Is a matter that has a distinct properties and a composition that doesn’t vary to sample to sample. Can be either elements or compounds.
Elements Cannot be decomposed into simpler substance. at present time 114 elements are known.
Periodic table of Elements a table in which the symbols for each element is enclosed. - The elements are arranged in vertical columns so that closely related elements are grouped together.
Compounds Are substance composed of two or more elements.
Mixture A combination of two or more substances in which each substance retains its own chemical identity.
Types of Mixture Heterogeneous Mixture - Do not have the same composition, properties, and appearance throughout the mixture.
Homogenous Mixture - mixtures that are uniform throughout. - are also called SOLUTIONS.
