National Survey of Children’s Health (NSCH) • Go to The Child and Adolescent Health Measurement Initiative’s Data Resource Center • http://www.nschdata.org/Content/Default.aspx • Go to the menu on the left side of the screen and mouse over • “Start a Data Query” • From the pop-up menu, select the year of data desired • http://www.nschdata.org/DataQuery/SurveyAreas.aspx?yid=2 • Then, select the type of interactive data search you would like to do • Alternate Site • http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/slaits/nsch.htm Navigating the National MCH Surveys

Basically, 3 Types of Data • State Profile Tables • “All States” Comparison Tables • Data Graphs and Tables for Indicators • Compares an indicator across any 2 geographic areas • Compares indicators across subgroups of children • Age • Race / Ethnicity • Insurance Status • Income Level • Urban / Rural Navigating the National MCH Surveys

  11. Start a Data Query Choose the year of data Click on one of the ‘starting points’ . . . or Enter a word or phrase Then, click on ‘Next’ Navigating the National MCH Surveys

  13. Select ‘geographic area’ (nation, region, state) Select ‘topic’ (HP2010 focal area) Then, click on ‘Next’ Navigating the National MCH Surveys
