What is ITAS? • ITAS is an academic initiative of the Commonwealth Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIISRTE). • The program aims to: • improve academic outcomes for all Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students by providing supplementary tuition, • supplement normal teaching efforts and cannot be used to substitute or replace them, • accelerate educational outcomes for Indigenous Australians beyond those which could reasonably be expected from the provider’s core resources alone.
How do Tutors register for ITAS? • You can go to the SIAS website and print off a ITAS Tutor Application pack http://www.jcu.edu.au/sias/public/groups/everyone/documents/form_download/jcu_084240.pdf • You can respond to advertisements placed in the employment section of the Cairns Post or the Townsville Daily Bulletin • Be qualified, either through formal education or relevant experience, to be eligible to deliver tutoring under ITAS TT.
