  2. What and who we are • Mission: • Promoting the work of third sector providers of learning and skills

Vision • National 'voice' for third sector providers • Champion unique role of third sector in 'reaching' the most disadvantaged • Enable the exchange of information and best practice so that providers improve quality • Work with all other sectors and agencies to ensure the effective delivery of good quality learning to disadvantaged people and communities

  4. History & Identity • 2006 national consultation: need for voice for learning & skills! • Early champions: NIACE, Involve, FCDL, Foyer, LLCCIC, NAVCA, Workforce Hub, Learning Curve • Company limited by guarantee – about to be charity

  5. Voice & ChampionYou have to be there! • Meetings with Minister at BIS • Liaison with BIS third sector lead • Member BIS FE Reform & Performance board • Protocol with SFA – meetings with CEO • Member SFA Advisory Group • Re-establishing regular liaison YPLA • LSIS: MCL group • Consultations: IACL group

Exchange of Info & collaboration • LSIS New Ways of Working: • Info & good practice to sector: wider subscriber network & members network • Case studies – let me know! • Efficiencies, collaboration, accessing higher contract levels, quality models etc. • Sensitise Excellence Gateway to third sector • Integration into wider skills sector - LSIS

  7. Latest developments? • AoC Shared Services project: HR, MIS, learning • Research into TSOs delivering learning and skills (BIS funded) • Closer collaboration with AoC, 157, AELP, HOLEX, LANDEX – Strategic Dialogue conference

  8. With what results? • Access to Ministers • Recognition by agencies – we speak on behalf of providers in third sector • Acceptance as a charity – we give ‘public benefit’ • Helped in removal of 51% Rule • Developing a more joined up strategic framework via Strategic Dialogues process
