EU funding Two main types of EU funding programmes: Structural funds – providing support for geographical areas within EU which lag behind the EU average in terms of economic development and social inclusion Trans-National funds – encouraging organisations and individuals to work together, undertake mobility projects etc

  3. Trans-National funds Two main types of grants: Collaborative projects – based on co-operation and partnership involving partners from at least three different European countries. Grants only fund project work and cannot be used for annual / revenue funding. Mobility activities – individuals / groups to undertake visits or exchanges. Match funding is required for nearly all Trans-national funds.

  4. Grundtvig Learner Workshops Learner Workshops bring together adult learners from several countries for a multinational non-vocational learning opportunity. Priorities: • Visual arts, music and creativity • Numeracy, maths and science • Active citizenship and intercultural exchange • Environment Funding available: A flat-rate grant of €9,000 for organising a UK workshop. Travel and subsistence costs for up to 20 adult learners from outside of the UK can also be funded. Exclusions: • Vocational education • Adult education staff • No more than one third of participants from the same country Application process: Online application form plus posting an original signed copy Timescale: A minimum three months to receive a decision

  5. Grundtvig Partnerships Grundtvig focuses on adult education and partnerships are set for 2 years. Priorities: • Mobility for adult educators (courses, conferences or job shadowing) • Learning partnerships for AE orgs from at least 3 European countries • Multilateral projects to improve adult education systems • Thematic networks (involving at least 10 countries) • Preparatory visits and contact seminars Funding available: Up to €25,000 ( for minimum of 24 mobilities) Exclusions: • Work with young people • Individuals can’t apply to be part of a partnership only organisations Application process: Submit Project Outline Form for comments before submitting a full application. Timescale: 5 months to receive a decision

  6. Leonardo da Vinci – Transfer of Innovation To improve the quality of the European VET system by integrating innovative content. Priorities: • Transparency and recognition of competences and qualifications • Developing the quality and attractiveness of VET systems and practice • Develop vocational skills considering the labour market needs, new skills for new jobs • Developing the skills and competences of VET teachers, trainers and tutors Funding available:€150,000 per project with a minimum of 25% match funding. Exclusions: • Projects with less than three EU partners Application process: Project outline followed by a full application Timescale: 5 months to receive a decision

  7. Grundtvig Senior Volunteering Project A programme responding to the educational challenge of an aging population. Priorities: • Supporting volunteering projects for adults over 50 in two different countries • Create lasting European co-operation • Opportunities to share expertise and be involved in a project of social value • Sending and hosting up to 6 volunteers • Priority for socially disadvantaged groups and ethnic minorities Funding available: A flat rate grant of€800 per volunteer sent and €390 per volunteer hosted. Travel and subsistence is funded additionally. Exclusions: • Volunteering less than 3 weeks Application process: An application letter (including budget, accounts and equal opportunities policy) and a completed registration form Timescale: 10 weeks to receive a decision

  8. The Culture Programme To support European Cultural Added Value. Priorities: • Multi-annual co-operation projects (up to 5yrs / 6+ partners) • Cooperation measures (up to 2yrs / 3+ partners) • Literary translation (up to 2yrs) • Third country projects (up to 2yrs 3+ euro partners plus 3rd country partners) • Festivals, networks, ambassadors, platforms (1yr) Funding available: 2yrs projects up to €200K, 5yrs projects up to €500K Exclusions: • Projects with less than 50% match funding • Profit making projects (as distinct from income generating) Application process: Separated into 3 sections: organisers, project and budget. Timescale: 6 months receive a decision

Role of the Projects’ Network • How can we work together to maximise European funding opportunities? • What infrastructure do we need in place to apply for and manage European funding? • How can we work collaboratively to increase the number of applications submitted for European funding over the next 12 months?
