1. 8th Grade Pre AP Thursday April 28, 2011 Objective: You will understand how to georeference and embed content into Google Earth

2. Georeference Challenge • Select a science topic (examples coming up) • Select at least 8 places in the world that relate to your chosen topic • Create a placemark for each location • In the description box of each placemark, explain the importance of the location and embed material (links, pictures, slide shows) • Create a tour of your placemarks

3. Embedded Content • 2 of your placemarks must include a 4 slide Sliderocket presentation that relates your science topic to that location • 3 of your placemarks must include links to websites that support both your science topic and the location that goes with it • 2 of your placemarks must include pictures from that area that support your science topic • 1 of your placemarks must include an embedded video or a link to a video that supports your topic

4. Challenge Timeline Thursday- choose your topic and create a list of the 8 places you are going to georeference. Place your thumbtacks in Google Earth and write out descriptions Friday- Create and find the material you are going to embed into the placemarks Monday- Create tours Tuesday- Narrate tours or write out tour scripts for presenting Thursday- Present Tours
