KEY-IPBT PROGRAM VIABILITY PROCEDURE--DRAFT • Factors that may trigger identification of a program needing improvement examples: • (Thresholds may vary per program) • Student demand (enrollment data), retention, persistence completion rates • Trend of not filling staff and faculty positions, frequency of course offerings • Workforce demand/work force mission, external mandates • Alignment within college’s curriculum • Others as identified that are specific to the program Membership: The “Viability Advisory Team” will be co-chaired by the IPBT co-chairs and the membership will consist of (at a minimum): Division Dean, 2 Discipline Faculty OR 1 Discipline and 1 Division Faculty, Academic Senate Officer, Classified Senate Officer, Union Representative(s). Others as appropriate may be invited: students, articulation officer, Division Dean of sister college , curriculum co-chair . . . VIABILITY ADVISORY TEAM • Examples of Factors to be Considered • Articulation with local and most popular transfer institutions • Alignment with college mission, strategic initiatives • Alignment with college programs, certificates, degrees • Alignment with district programs, certificates, degrees • Program level outcomes assessment data • Program mission, goals • Student Demand • Others that are unique to the program • IMPACT Foothill college programs and personnel • IMPACT to students currently enrolled in program • IMPACT to local community and other programs on campus Outcome: VIABILITY REPORT AND RECOMMENDATION(S) TO IMPROVE OR IMPACT REPORT and RECOMMENDATION AND TIMELINE FOR DISCONTINUANCE
