  2. Maggots ( the larval stage of flies) cause the ear infection is called Myiasis. Commonly, tropical regions or a humid area are prone to developing this infection more.

  3. when the flies lay their eggs in open wounds and these hatch into their larval stage (also known as maggots or grubs), the larvae feed on live and/or necrotic tissue, causing myiasis to develop.

  4. Symptoms These are the common symptoms which a perosn can have. Itching Stabbing Pain ( usually occurs in the night) Yellow or bloody discharge A crawing sensation inside the ear Buzzing noise

  5. Commonly, maggots in the ear caused by these family of flies Sarcophagidae Calliphoridae Oestridae and Muscidae

  6. Treatment To eliminate the larvae from the ear wound, it requires the debridement with irrigation or surgical removal. Application of chloroform, chloroform in light vegetable oil are also helpful in the removal of wound myiasis.
