Refusal of Czar Nicholas II to make things better for the people 2. Czar’s guard shoot peaceful protesters marching on palace 3. Starvation (famine) 4. Czar runs army in WW I and is a terrible (!!) general Effects/Results: 1. Everyone starts to revolt (even soldiers mutiny and leave battle front) 2. Communists/Bolsheviks led by Lenin form new government promising “Peace, Land and Bread!” 3. Lenin and new government sign peace treaty with Central Powers and Russia is out of WWI 4. Russia is now the U.S.S.R. (Soviet Union)
