Objectives • Inform community of state of the art and mission opportunities. • Receive from community assessment of science challenges and needs for InSAR. • Breakout groups will determine science challenges and mission/data requirements. • Devise long-term strategy for InSAR including funding of dedicated InSAR satellites, access to foreign data, and continued education and advocacy. Timeliness • Mission opportunities: We want to be well-organized. • Integration with other scientific endeavors: EarthScope, Natural Laboratories, International Polar Year. • Coordination with other countries for joint missions, complementary missions, and data access/sharing. Expectations • Will coordinate and report to NASA, the NSF, USGS, NOAA, EarthScope, and other appropriate organizations such as the IPY planning committee. • Will produce documents outlining the science drivers, targets, and requirements for an InSAR mission or mission suite, and data needs. • Community advocacy for radar science applied to crustal deformation science related to earthquakes, volcanoes, hydrologic processes, ice sheet and glacier variability, vegetation structure, and disaster management.
