  2. Our undergraduate program has been the top rated civil engineering department in Turkey based on the results of the National University Entrance Examination. On average, the Department admits students from the first 0.3% of more than 1.5 million college-bound candidates each year. Furthermore, the undergraduate program is evaluated by ABET as “substantially equivalent” to accredited programs in the United States. Our graduate students originate from the top three undergraduate programs in the country, as well as from other countries such as Iran, Sudan, Bangladesh, Greece and Jordan. The requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering include the completion of minimum of 144 credit hours of formal course work and 60 days of approved practical training in industry.The M.S. program in Civil Engineering comprises of a minimum of 24 credits of course work and a Master's thesis.The Ph.D. program in Civil Engineering is composed of a minimum number of 24 credits of course work planned under the supervision of an advisor anda Ph.D. thesis carried out according to the regulations of the Institute.

Structures LaboratoryStructures laboratory has full-scale capability for testing structural components and seismic rehabilitation. current research topics: Structural safety and retrofitting Strengthening with FRP Smart materials and structures Structural health monitoring Preservation of historical structures Seismic hazard mitigation

  4. current research topics: High performance concrete technology Fiber reinforced concretes Lightweight concretes Fly ash lightweight aggregates Corrosion resistance of rebars in concrete Construction Materials LaboratoryMaterials laboratory is specialized in concrete technology. The laboratory hasfacilities for strength and durability testing as well as nondestructivetests.

  5. Soil Mechanics LaboratoryGeotechnics laboratory, where Karl Terzaghi started his pioneering work in soil mechanics, is named after its founder. The laboratory is equiped with the apparatus required to perform all the standard soil tests including the triaxial test (UU,CU,CD) and the direct shear test. current research topics: Geosynthetics Soil dynamics Soil improvement techniques Recycled materials in pavement design
