And why is Salamanca so special? • It’s a beautiful, lively city. • It has one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Europe. • It’s a perfect place to learn the Spanish language. • It’s a middle-sized city that allows you to walk all over. • There are lots of students to interact with.
What courses will I be able to get credit for? • Spanish 118: Intensive Beginning Spanish, 6 credits. • Spanish 128: Intensive Intermediate Spanish, 6 credits. • Combination of 6 credits in Spanish according to proficiency level.
And what will this great program cost? The cost of this program is approximately $1,995 per person, exclusive of tuition and registration fees. But if you have a GPA of 2.50 or higher you qualify for a $ 300 scholarship. And you can also apply for financial aid!!!
What does the price include? • Round trip from JFK to Madrid • Shuttle service round trip, Hartford-JFK • Shuttle service round trip, Madrid-Salamanca • Health insurance
And more? • Room and board in Salamanca. • Use of university facilities: libraries, sports facilities and gymnasium, computer halls and services. • Orientation and assistance to students. • Didactic materials. • Certificates.
And that’s not all! Cultural activities: • 2 guided visits of Salamanca with an expert professor and historian. • 2 excursions on weekends to Segovia and Madrid. • A course on Spanish cinema including 2 recent Spanish movies.
What is the Academic Content and Program? • Classes from Mondays to Fridays on Spanish Language, Culture and Oral Communication according to your level. • Afternoon tutoring in small groups. All classes and tutoring are taught by University of Salamanca and CCSU professors.
And the dates? • Academic Program: Classes will start at CCSU in the last week of May and they will end one week after the return from Salamanca • Scholarship Application Deadline: February 1, 2006 • Program Registration Deadline: March 1, 2006
And what will the weather be like in Salamanca in June? Probably nice and sunny, usually warm during the day and cool in the evenings. So don’t forget to bring summer clothes but also a warm jacket or sweater.
Will I like the food? You probably will. Spanish families eat well, and there are lots of restaurants and bars where you can try delicious local specialties.
