  1. Strong Introductions for Opinion / Persuasive Writing Authors: S. Brooks, V. Tovar, and L. Acevedo, RCCSD

  2. Strong Visual Image/Description I will always love my grandparents’ beach house. I really enjoy the way the waves role over the gooey sand and the way the sand weaves in between my toes. When I go there we pick up barnacle-covered rocks and watch the sand crabs scurry away. I would love to spend my summer vacation visiting their beach house!

  3. Facts About the Topic Washington, D.C. is home to the Library of Congress, the largest library in the world. Its collection includes more than 22 million cataloged items. This would be a place where I could learn while having fun. I think it is the perfect place to visit for our next family vacation.

  4. Onomatopoeia (sound words) Screech, screech, screech! The first time I tried to play the recorders it sounded like a lion running his claws down a chalkboard. I know if you let me have lessons I will get so much better!

  5. Personal story I remember the time that I was walking through our neighborhood and noticed the house with weeds as high as the second story, trash in the driveway, and toys strewn around the yard. I felt sad seeing how the neighborhood looked. We really need to have a community clean up day every year!

  6. Question to get Readers thinking Have you ever been an Editor-in-Chief? Well I’ll tell you, it’s a big job!
