  2. Task One Write down on your mini whiteboards what persuasive technique you think each example is. Remember – AFOREST! ALLITERATION FACTS OPINIONS REPETITION/RHETORICAL QUESTION EMOTIVE LANGAUEG/EXAGGERATION STATISTICS THREE ADJECTIVES (TRIPLING)

  4. Do you think Messi is the best football player in the world?

  5. L.F.C is the best football club ever made.

  6. Ferguson: Fantastic, focused and a football fanatic.

  7. 99% of the public love football.

  8. Steven Gerrard is talented, successful and one of the most inspirational footballers of all time.

  9. Come on you blues! Come on you blues! Come on you blues!

  10. Do footballers get paid too much or too little?

  11. Task One Discuss this question in your groups and decide whether you agree or disagree. You must have valid reasons for your argument! Note these down in your book and PLAN your work!

  12. Task Two Individually, you must write a speech persuading the rest of the group that footballers get paid too much or too little. Look at the model example of how to start off and ensure you use as many persuasive techniques as you can!

  13. Model example of how to start speech Footballers get paid far too much. They do not deserve to earn as much money as other people in society! People with more important jobs deserve to earn this type of money, they get paid millions for kicking a ball around a field, they are paid for travelling all over the world and some don’t even enjoy it!

  14. Swap your work! Now, you must swap your work with another person. You must read their speech you must decide if it persuasive enough. Use the peer assessment sheet and give them feedback on the good elements and what they can improve.
