Remember…add It consider as a good warm up activity for kids , game called “I will ...“ Each student starts out the same, and has to remember all the previous answers and adds a new one. The teacher starts out “I will buy a pencil". The first student says I will buy a pencil and I will go to market” and so son…
Future Plans Elicit from the class all the things the student will have to do next week e.g. (buy new dress, go to park, do homework, clean the house, have a shower etc ) then ask how long each activity will take her and write the time by the activity. Then they can write sentences use future perfect.
Plan/arrangement/prediction… Give students a list offuture events by using cards, each of which could be an arrangement, offer or just a thing that they can predict etc… (e.g. birthday party, exercise and shopping). A student picks one and make a future question or sentence from it. e.g. “I am having a birthday party this weekend” (arrangement). “Your family will probably arrange a surprise party for you” (prediction).
Video To teach “ will” and “ going to” use video is a good way. Teacher can pause the video and ask the students to predict what happens next. You can use this for a mix of both “going to for predictions with future evidence” and “will for predictions” . Students can then use “going to” for the first sentence and “will” for the latter.
Fortune Teller The basis of this activity is for the students to make humorous predictions about the futures of their classmates. Students are allowed to use all appropriate forms of the future. Students should use what they know about a student to help them write predictions.
Four Ps of the Future • It isan activity to teach the uses of future tense. • STEP 1 : Compose 4-5 sentence pairs (statement and reply) modeling the use of will and going to for plans, promises, predictions, and pleas (i.e. requests). Some suggestions: *I’m going to find a way to stop our neighbors from making so much noise. – What are you going to do? * Do you have any plans for tonight? – Yes, we’re going to meet my mother in-law for dinner.
STEP 2 – Mix up the sentence pairs and write them in two columns either on the board or on a handout. Students can work with a partner to choose the most appropriate match for each item. • STEP 3 –Before correcting the matches, ask the class to identify the replies according to their purpose: state a plan, make a promise, make prediction, make a plea (request). Note that these commons uses of the future tenses are easier to remember by thinking of “the 4 Ps,”
STEP 4 –Have volunteers read the matches one at a time. For each item, explain the correct match to those who failed to select the correct reply. Having identified the purpose of each reply, it should be easier to clarify the most appropriate choice. As correct matches are read aloud, begin to form a summary of purposes on the board.
