Born in Chatham, Kent, UK in 1940. • Introduced to fashion by her mother, a fitter for the Paris fashion House of Worth. • Graduated from Royal College of Art • “Too extreme.” • Created fashion history with her bold use of color, prints and textiles. • 1977, earned the name “princess of punk” after creating a pink and black jersey collection. • Works between London and San Diego. • Clients include: Princess Diana, Elizabeth Taylor, Freddie Mercury (Queen), Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kelly Osborne.
Her Inspiration • Comes from all over the world: Native American, South Asian dress, Ancient Egypt and Greece, and Medieval Europe • Organic material and nature • Original hand-screened chiffons, tulles and silks
