Power and War • Body Politic uses power to enlist Individual body to fit into the social body and impacts all aspects of life • Government is a form of Body Politic looking to monitor, delegate and control • Refers to a continuum, extending from political government right through forms of self-regulation “technologies of the self”

  3. FocaultBioPower • Biopower strongest form of power • A technology of power, it is the way in which a group or government manages people • Biopower is literally having power over bodies

  4. Genocide • Genocide is the most traumatic form of biopower expression while maintaining the body politic • Much more than cultural or political differences. Becomes national, ethnic, and religious war • Similar to contemporary liberal biopolitcs and managing bodies

  5. Nazi Doctors • “Among all war criminals and murders, the most dangerous type is the criminal physician”

  6. Disabled Bodies • “SuperCrip” • Body Politic deemed certain bodies disabled simply by their ethnicity or race • Nuremberg Trials
