Background • Congress appropriated $300 million nationwide to support state rebate programs for residential ENERGY STAR appliances and HVAC products • State of CT Office of Policy Management (OPM) estimated allocation: $3.4 million
Program Objectives • Save energy by encouraging HVAC replacement or upgrade through consumer rebates • Make rebates available to consumers • Enhance existing rebate programs by leveraging ENERGY STAR national partner relationships and local program infrastructure
Who Qualifies • The rebates are available to consumers since January 25, 2010 for qualified HVAC systems and/or equipment installed in Connecticut residences • HVAC systems and/or equipment must be a replacement of an existing system • HVAC systems and/or equipment may be purchased and installed by any contractor • Rebate is in addition to Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund rebates
Timing • The mail-in rebates will apply to eligible HVAC systems and/or equipment purchased and installed between January 25 and April 30, 2010 • Program is expected to run in 3 phases • Phases will be based on availability of funds

Rebate Process • Customer fills out all required information and mails it along with a copy of the HVAC contractor invoice and customer’s recent electric bill
Rebate Process • Recycling of the customer’s old appliances are highly encouraged and the customer will have to attest that they will do so in accordance with local, state and federal guidelines

It will ONLY apply to purchases made between January 25 -- April 30, 2010. • Mail-in rebates are awarded to consumers on a first-come, first-served basis. • Rebates will be mailed to contractors in the next week. • Rebates can be downloaded at: www.ct.gov/opm/ApplianceRebates
