Characteristics • The grasslands cover about one forth of the earth. • There is about 10 to 30 inches of rain a year. • The grass grows to be 5 feet tall. • No trees grow in the grasslands, grass grows best in the soil. • The grasslands are habitats to small feeding animals. • Animals such as the bison, wolf, prairie dog and the mule dog are now common in the United states grasslands.
Location • The grasslands are located in North America, South America, Africa and Australia.
Plant life • Grasslands have good soil so the plants can grow better. • Prairies have coneflowers. • Some plants grow to be 2 feet tall.
Animal life • Many animals are mostly active in the rainy season. • The rattle snake lives in the grasslands. • Kangaroos are also one of the grassland animals.
