2. DISRUPTIVE PLAYERS “I have two very disruptive players that continue to bring practices down. I have tried discipline by sitting them out and talking to the parents, without much luck. You must understand that, “players come to practice to play –SOCCER.” Therefore, any activity that does not involve a moving soccer ball and two goals (One to Attack & One to Defend) may become disruptive. When refereeing, I’ve noticed mainstream kids, instead of practicing for their upcoming game on the same or adjacent field, attentively watch the Special Children instead and applaud every good play. 3. WHAT TO DO??? The recent death of Salt Lake City , Utah, soccer referee Richardo Portillo makes me incredibly sad. There isn’t a game on earth that is worth someone’s life. I read that his family say the parents of the 17- year-old keeper who hit him in the head should bear some of the blame. I guarantee you that neither the parents nor anyone else on the sidelines intended for Portillo’s death to happen. But time and time again I’ve watched negative energy result in unintended consequences. What position did she play for you?  How does she do in a game situation (is she aggressive, does she work hard, does she understand and stay in her position, etc.). How is her commitment/attendance for practice and games? She did well when she practiced with us but it's always helpful to get insight from someone who has seen a player more than once or twice.
