  1. Short History YouTube, LLC* is a video sharing website where users can upload, view and share video clips. YouTube was created in February 2005 by three former PayPal employees. The San Bruno-based service uses Adobe Flash Video technology to display a wide variety of user-generated video content, including movie clips, TV clips and music videos, as well as amateur content such as videoblogging and short original videos. In October 2006, Google Inc. announced that it had reached a deal to acquire the company for US$1.65 billion in Google stock. The deal closed on November 13, 2006. LLC: Limited liability company

  4. Searching for videos You can quickly search for videos based on their title, description or keywords. Suggestions appear as you type to help you in your search.

  10. Creating an account If you want to get take full advantage of all the Youtube function, then you need to create yourself an account. Creating an account is simple and straightforward, but also requires that you already have an email address, for validation purposes.

Other functions • Now that you already have an account, you have access to all of the full functionality of Youtube. • You can now: • Leave comments • Be careful not to spam or flame, because people can rate your comment as useful or not • Add videos to your favorite • Rate videos • Flag videos • Flagged videos will be removed or marked as inappropriate for under-aged users. • Share videos with your friends.

  12. Subscribing to another user If you really like a video, you can subscribe to that user, and any other new video he/she uploads will appear on your home page. Also, in your home page, recommended videos will appear, depending on what sort of videos you have been watching in the past.

  13. Your account • In your account page you can view your: • uploaded videos • favorite videos • play lists • subscriptions • quick list • history You also have access to the Insight function, that tells you information about how popular your videos are and who is watching them.

  14. Your channel On your channel, other people can view your uploaded videos, favorite videos, people you have subscribed to or people that have subscribed to you. They can also leave comments on your channel. The look and feel of your channel is completely customizable. You can also send messages to other users, or add them as your friends.

  15. Uploading a video Uploading a video is a very simple, yet sometimes time consuming process if you have a low speed internet connection.

Editing a video • Once you’ve uploaded a video, there a couple of things you can do to edit it. • Annotations • Different comments or links that the user can see during the video. • Captions • Subtitles in other languages or disambiguation for parts of the video that are not audible. • Audio Swap • Swap the audio on your video with another one available on Youtube. • Warning! Audio swap is permanent, do don’t do it if you’re not completely sure you will not need the original soundtrack, otherwise you may need to upload the video again.

  17. Video responses Instead of adding a comment, you can reply to a video (including one of yours) with one of your videos. Each video can have more than one video response, but it can only be a video response for one video.

  18. Gurus and Ad-Sense People that have very many video views are called either Directors or Gurus. Some of them may also have Ad-Sense on their accounts, which basically means different advertisements appear on the page when you view their videos. The more views the video has, the more money that person will gain. So why not start your Youtube account today and start raking in the quarters ? 

  19. Embedded videos All you need to do to have a video on your site is to copy the HTML code.
