CORPORATE COMMUNICATION M A PROGRAM ADMISSION • 2.5 GPA (4.0 scale) for cumulative undergraduate coursework. • complete the Graduate Record Examination (verbal and quantitative tests only) • offer three letters of recommendation from former college professors OR communication industry executives
CORPORATE COMMUNICATION MA PROGRAM COURSE OFFERINGS • Classes are offered every fall and spring term within two 8-week sessions. • Students who work full time can opt for the Professional Track and take two graduate courses each term with no class overlap. • Students who want to work on their MA full time can opt for the Fast Track and take four graduate courses each term with only two courses overlapping at a time. • Classes are also offered during the summer in a single 8-week session.
CORPORATE COMMUNICATION MA DEGREE COMPLETION • Students opting for the Professional Track typically spend between 2 ½ to 3 ½ years completing our M. A. in corporate communication degree program. • Students opting for the Fast Track typically spend between 1 ½ to 2 years completing our M. A. in corporate communication degree program. Professional Track Fast Track
CORPORATE COMMUNICATION M A PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS • Complete the required core of courses. COMM 5001, Proseminar in Communication (1) – an orientation to the M. A. program and scholarly writing. COMM 5000, Communication Research Methods (3) – quantitative and qualitative research methods are to communication inquiry and investigation. COMM 5030, Applied Communication Theory (3) – learning appropriate theories and applying them to communication. COMM 5600, Integrated Corporate Communication (3) – discovering all of the IMC ingredients and their application. COMM 5650, Communication Law (3) – A study of law as it related to the communication industry.
CORPORATE COMMUNICATION M A PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS • Complete the research component. COMM 5950, Research Paper (3) – writing a research paper on a case study, campaign, review of literature, or other communication discipline research. OR COMM 599A and COMM 599B, Thesis Writing (3, 3) – writing a communication thesis after conducting original, in-depth research in the area of mass communication.
CORPORATE COMMUNICATION M A PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS • Completion of the required elective courses. • 18 semester hours if you opt for the COMM 5950, Research Paper (3), option to fulfill the research component. • 15 semester hours if you opt for the COMM 599A and COMM 599B, Thesis Writing (3, 3) option to fulfill the research component. • Your Advisor must approve your elective classes.
