  3. March 21, 2012 Objectives: Content: Language: Participating in a PTE. Watch 2 videos, read some statistics and participate in a discussion board. Reading about yourself online. Creating a rubric with the class using rubistar4teachers.org • Understand how technology can impact classroom culture. • Analyze the role of socio-cultural status in access to technology. • Examine how your digital presence could be viewed. • Determine what needs to be done to prepare for a presentation.

Online Post about the Digital Divide • After watching the videos and reading the statistics, what is the role of technology in education? • What questions do you have about culture and technology? • Write a quick (2-4 sentences) post under “forum” on cultureintheclassroom.webs.com • Read and respond to at least one other person’s post.

Ethics and Online Interaction with Students • You are responsible for keeping students safe • If you choose to “friend” a student, be aware that this could open you up to scrutiny • We must report concerns that a student will be a danger to herself or others- it’s the LAW • This includes outside of class time, like online

  13. Integrating Ideas from Class into Curriculum • Find like-credentialing students in class. • Sit together • We will be presenting an idea for how to incorporate ideas from class into a lesson on April 18. • Take 5 minutes to brainstorm some possibilities.
