Degrees Each Cardinal Point also has a degree number that measures the amount of each direction. We count these degree numbers in the same way we count on a clock - as the arrows show.
You already know that a circle has 360 degrees. We measure direction on a compass the same way. A compass has 360 degrees, counting from the top all around the compass circle to the top again.
The North point is at 0 (zero) degrees at the start, and 360 degrees after a complete circle is made. The East point is 90 degrees.
The South point is 180 degrees and the West point is 270 degrees.
