ADPAC’s Purpose • To raise funds to help elect candidates to federal office who understand the importance of dentistry and dentistry’s unrelenting commitment to improve oral health care in America.
Why ADPAC?? • Government is part of our business. • Government can’t make our business, but it sure can break it!! • Representatives need our direction. • Representatives have overwhelming competition for their attention. • We must WIN their attention.
ADPAC Board of Directors • 17 ADA Constituent representatives. • 2 ADPAC Board Liaisons. • 7 ADPAC Ex-Officio Representatives.
Opportunities for Dental Students • 1st Priority – JOINASDA. • SEEK and ACCEPT leadership positions in ASDA at the Local, State, and ADA levels. • Promote ADPAC membership, YOUR$5.00/$50.00 contributions MAKE A DIFFERENCE!! • ORGANIZE LUNCH AND LEARNS at your dental schools - Involve local dentists. - Invite elected officials. • LOBBY DAYS at your State Capitols and in D.C. • Washington Leadership Conference. • INTERNSHIPS and EXTERNSHIPS. • Participate in CAPWIZ ACTION ALERTS. • Attend ADPAC CAMPAIGN SCHOOL. • Get to know elected representatives STAFFERS at the local, state, national levels.
Opportunities – Political Campaigns • POLITICAL CAMPAIGNS • CONTACT DISTRICT OFFICES of State and Federal Representatives in your home areas. - Get to know the “Staffers”. • “MEET AND GREETS” - Dentist homes, offices, etc. • FUNDRAISERS - Attend and participate in fundraisers for candidates. • ELECTION CAMPAIGNS - Telephone calling. - Mailings. - Distributing candidate brochures at fairs, in parades, “door to door”, polling. • NO BETTER WAY TO BUILD AN EVERLASTING RELATIONSHIP WITH ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS THAN WORKING ON CAMPAIGNS.
