  1. Standing Long Jump Challenge What is it? • This test involves a two-footed jump from a standing position, and tests the co-ordination and leg strength of the participant. How to do it. • The student must take off with both feet behind the line. • Techniques involving a crouch or rocking motion prior to the jump are permitted, provided that both feet are next to each other and retain in contact with the mat until the start of the jump. • The participant should jump with a two footed take off as far as possible from a standing position. • The student must land on both feet. If the they step back after landing, falls back, touches the mat or floor behind their heel, a no jump is recorded. • Measurement is taken from the take off line to the back of the closest heel on landing. • Equipment needed. • Cones • Tape measure /or • Standing long jump mat Speed Bounce Challenge What is it? This event is an exciting test of an students speed, rhythm and coordination, involving double footed jumps over a line of cones How to do it. Speed Bounce is a two-footed jump in which the student must take off and land on both feet. The student should cross the cones as many times as possible within a 15 second period. If an incorrect technique is used, the participant is stopped and allowed a fresh trial after an adequate rest period. The number of correct bounces is be recorded. Should the participant hit the cones, that jump will not be counted. Equipment needed. Cones Stopwatch

Chest Push Challenge What is it? • The objective of this challenge to for the students to throw a ball as far as possible using a chest push technique. • How to do it • The student stands with both feet behind the throwing line. One foot may be in front of the other but no run ups or steps are permitted. Rocking is allowed as long as some part of each foot remains in contact with the floor. • The student holds the ball in both hands, pulled to their chest, facing forward. The student pushes the ball forcefully forward with both hands, at an angle to get the maximum possible distance. No rotation in the trunk is allowed. • The student must not cross over the throwing line during or after their throw. • The distance thrown is measured from the throwing line to the point where the ball first lands. • Equipment needed. • Cones • Size 4 Futsal • Tape measure or Chest push mat Shuttle Run Challenge What is it? The objective of this challenge is to assess the students ability to accelerate between marked lines and to rapidly change direction How to do it. The course is marked out with a 10 metre straight section on the track with cones When the coach/teacher gives the command “GO” , they start the stopwatch The athlete sprints as fast as possible from the starting cone to the finishing cone, sprints back to the start line and repeats within a one minute time limit. The ‘timer’ will count how many shuttles they have completed and this score will be recorded. Equipment needed. Cones Stopwatch Tape measure

  3. The Target Challenge What is it? Students are to throw as many beanbags as possible into a target within 10 seconds How to do it. The course is marked out with a cone then a hoop the correct distance away from the cone (3m KS1 or 5m KS2) When the coach/teacher gives the command “GO” the participant starts attempting to get their beanbags in the target The beanbags have to land a stay in the area. Once 15 seconds has gone the coach/ teacher will count the amount of bean bags then record their score Equipment needed Beanbags Hoop Stopwatch Please email all results to kane@avssp.co.uk
