What is the Internet? • The Internet is a huge collection of computers around the world. • These computers are all linked together, and they can "talk" to each other, sharing information. • If your computer is connected to the Internet, it can be connected to millions of other computers, in many different parts of the world.

  3. When was the Internet invented? • Ideas about getting computers to 'talk' were first thought of in the 1960s. • In 1990 Tim Berners-Lee and Robert Cailliau invented the World Wide Web to make a common space where people could share information. • Today there are billions of websites online.

  4. What can you do on the Internet? • Find information on the World Wide Web • Communicate with friends and family • Shop for items and have them delivered to your home • Listen to music • Watch videos • Play games • Collaborate (work with) other people online
