Diplomas and Certifications Required to Teach in France Becoming a teacher • Elementary schools (2-11 years old) • Secondary schools (Middle & High Schools, 12-18 years old) Public Schools: - National examination for aspiring teachers after completion of a Master’s degree (5 years of higher education). Only French and European citizens can participate.

At the end of the year, the teacherbecomesfully-certified in the position.

Teaching Assistant Program in France The French Ministry of Education offers 1,500 teaching assistant positions to youngAmericanslooking to teachconversational English in French public schools.American citizens and permanent residentsbetween the ages of 20 and 30 with a proficiency in French are eligible to apply.

Teaching Assistant Program in France • Citizenship: Must be an American citizen or permanent resident with green card. French-American dual citizens are not eligible to apply. • Age: Must be between 20 and 30 years old. • Education: Must have completed at least 2 years of higher education by program start date. • Background: Must have completed the majority of elementary, secondary, and university studies in the U.S. • Language Skills: Proficiency in French is required.
Jules Verne Program • International mobility for teachers between school districts in France and countries all over the world. • Fully trained and certified elementary and secondary school teachers teach in public school systems across the world for a full school year (with the possibility of renewing for another year). • Participation in the daily life of the school and exposure to pedagogical methods used abroad. • Teacher’s full salary provided by the French Ministry of Education. The host school district is responsible for the teacher’s visa and roundtrip plane tickets.
Jules Verne Program • Secondary teachers licensed to teach one of a variety of subjects: French Language and Literature, History, Geography, Math, Sciences, etc. All participants are highly proficient in both spoken and written English. • Priority is given to school districts and/or states having exchange agreements with France (MOU). Immersion schools are also given priority in the assignment of teachers from France.

The content can evolve or change depending on the functions and needs of the parties involved. • Promotes faculty, staff and student exchanges by facilitating: • their temporary transfer to peer institutions in the United States or France • the visa process • access to funding

Sister Schools We encourage short-term teacher exchanges of up to 90 days (90-day limit is for visa purposes).
