Location COMMUNICATIONS • Maritime transportation: Three shipping companies daily communicate Gran Canaria island with Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. • Aeronautic transportation: Gran Canaria international airport has two terminals: one for international and national flights and another one for domestic flights between islands.
Location TOURISM • Canary Islands is the second most visited turistic destination after Cuba. There are several alternative and cultural offers in each island. • 236 Km. of coast with more than 60 Km of beaches. The average water temperature is between 18ºC on winter and 22ºC the rest of the year. • Las Palmas of Gran Canaria is the capital city of the province and it is located 21 km from the airport. The island population is about 360.500 inhabitants.

University of Las Palmas G.C. - History • Since 1979, the Polytechnic University of the Canary Islands was created in Gran Canaria and later on was integrated into the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC). • The ULPGC was founded in 1989-1990 after the Canarian Parliament passed the “Ley de Reorganización Universitaria de Canarias” (University Reorganization Law of the Canary Islands). • The application of the mentioned law not only created the ULPGC, whose rectorate is locate in Gran Canaria, but it also meant the integration of the Polytechnic University of the Canary Islands. • ULPGC was originally made up of 19 centers. Some of which dated back to the mid nineteenth or early twentieth centuries. 2001/02 academic year was inaugurated by Juan Carlos I, King of Spain
ULPGC –General Information • It offers 60 degrees (23 post-graduate and 37 undergraduate programmes), as well as, master degrees, doctorates and own degree programmes. • At the present time there are more than 23.000 registered students on undergraduate programs and 1.500 on post-graduate programs. • Every year, more than 400 foreign exchange students come within the frame of mobility programs and existing agreements. • Over 1500 lecturers. • Research by 84 groups, 3 centers and 4 university institutes. ULPGC - Organisation • University Basic Structure: • 19 Centers (Faculties and Schools), are responsible for the organisation of teaching and for those academic, administrative and management processes that lead to academic qualifications. • 37 Departaments, co-ordinate teaching in their subject areas and support the lecturers teaching and research activities and initiatives. • 4 University Research Institutes. Carry out research in scientific, technical or artistic areas and can organise and develop post-graduate study programmes. 17 of 19 centers that form the University, are divided on 4 university campus in Gran Canaria island and the rest 2 centers are located in Lanzarote island.

EUITT – Academic Information • Final Proyect • 4.5 crédits. • 6 to 9 months of full-time work. • A teacher of the School is the Tutor. • Any subject related to courses of the academic plan or with the professional competences of the technical telecommunications engineer. • Student has to present and defend the Proyect to a board of 3 examiners (45 min. + questions).
