Independence • Children are expected to be responsible for: • Having the correct equipment for each lesson. • Making time to do homework and hand in on time. • Changing their own reading books. • Listening, thinking & learning. • Making good choices. • Presentation of work. These expectations help the children to prepare for the move to secondary school.
Homework • Given out on Thursday; back in on Tuesday. • Learning Log – more in-depth task based on Literacy, Science, Topic, RE… • Maths – in separate folder. • Homework club – Thursday lunchtimes. • Reading book lists: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum. • Spellings – written in diaries at the start of week, tested at the end of the week. Spellings also put on school website.
Other equipment • Art apron (named) • Book bag • Blue pens, pencil, whiteboard pens • 30cm ruler (not a bendy one!) • A pencil case that fits into their tray.
Music • Singing songs from Macbeth. Creative CurriculumTopic-based learning Art • Making props • e.g. masks, swordsand shields… Literacy • Re-enact key scenes from the play. • Script-writing. • Poetry. • Persuasive letters. Computing • We are Web Developers. Macbeth – Hero or Villain? PSHE / RE • Materialism and greed. • Superstitions of the past. • Religious values. PE • Athletics. • Dance to music from Macbeth. Science • Mixtures and solutions.
Holiday Homework Use websites or books to help you research about William Shakespeare. Make a detailed, well-presented poster. His life • Find 10 fascinating facts about his life; who he was; why he is still famous today… His plays • You may want to write about… • What type of plays he wrote. • Name four famous characters and identify the plays they were in.
