Laser-wire at the ATF extraction line Laser Based Beam Diagnostic (Laser-wire UK collaboration) RHUL/UCL/OXFORD
e-beam Line Focusing, Scanning, Diagnostics Laser Diagnostics Pre-IP Post-IP Relay optics Laserwire Experiment • Relay Optics • Focusing, Scanning & Pre-IP Diagnostics (Focus imaging, etc) • Post-IP Diagnostics ATF meeting, 9th Match 2005
Laser Hut Infrastructure - Use the laser - Use the Metric table for additional optics: relay optics; pre-IP diagnostics (Photodiode, powermeter etc) - Install our electronics (scanner driver etc) Optics Transport: (e-Polarization Experiment) Basic infrastructure is already there (rack, table, ATF signals,…) ATF meeting, 9th Match 2005
Ext. Line Infrastructure Extraction Line Use what’s already there: - Some vacuum chambers - Most of the safety piping - Supports, tables, mirrors - BPMs, Wire scanner, OTR ATF meeting, 9th Match 2005
Needs to be changed What needed & what’s needed to be changed? Modify the beam path ATF meeting, 9th Match 2005
Diagnostics Wire Scanner OTR IP e-beam Focusing Optics Setup needed Laser 1m x 1m
Items required - Support for the Optics Transport : - Pipes for the optics table - Table position not yet decided ? - Two Breadboards: 1- 1500 mm x 1000 mm (Pre-IP location) 2- 1000 mm x 750 mm (Post-IP location) - Box to enclose system - Electron-beam diagnostics - Wirescanner - Wire 2 m ? - Translation stage resolution - 2 BPMs - Screens - Beam Optics - Laser Hut - Laser hut access - Electronics rack: use existing trigger for laser - ATF control: BPMs; correctors; magnets; DR ramp ATF meeting, 9th Match 2005
Schedule • May/June 2005:Install the laser transport and delivery (Optics, Scanning,…), laser measurements, validate DAQ • September 2005:Install our vacuum vessel at the ATF and final focusing lens • November/December 2005:Laser-wire run
