People and institutes involvedin laser-wire activities in the UK • University of Oxford:Nicolas Delerue, Brian Foster, David Howell, Armin Reichold • Royal Holloway University London:Ilya Agapov, Grahame Blair, Gary Boorman, John Carter, Chafik Driouichi, Michael Price, Thorsten Kamps (now at BESY) • University College London:Stewart Boogert, Steve Malton We acknowledge great help from DESY, KEK and SLAC. Our roadmap • March 2005 (Now):“study trip”: Understand the possible setup [optics/infrastructure], prepare our DAQ, study the laser,… • May/June 2005:Install the laser transport and delivery (Optics, Scanning,…), laser measurements, validate DAQ • September 2005:Install our vacuum vessel at the ATF and final focusing lens • November/December 2005:Laser-wire run Our latest plans are posted at: http://www-pnp.physics.ox.ac.uk/~delerue/laserwire/atf.php Laser-wire UK collaboration Nicolas Delerue http://www-pnp.physics.ox.ac.uk/~delerue/
Our goals for this trip • Familiarize ourselves with the ATF operations (e- beam optics, dispersion correction,…) and the beam conditions (beam jitter,…) • Prepare an initial design (DAQ, laser optics,…) • Understand the conditions in which we can use the laser (safety, triggering, beam properties, optics,…) Laser-wire UK collaboration Nicolas Delerue http://www-pnp.physics.ox.ac.uk/~delerue/
What we would like to do during the beam time • Measure the signal with the APD at our Interaction point [0.5 shift] • Confirm that we can have a vertical electron beam size of 1 micrometer (need to flip some quads) [0.5 shift] • Calibrate our APD by performing a wire-scanner measurement with the APD and compare it with the PMT measurement (As the e+ wire-scanner is not available, we would like to use another wire-scanner in the extraction line) [1 shift, parasitic?] • Study the beam jitter (after dispersion correction) [from nano-BPM] We would like to have 1 shift this week+1 parasitic shift Laser-wire UK collaboration Nicolas Delerue http://www-pnp.physics.ox.ac.uk/~delerue/
