Process continued… • Spelling folder (in class work, study tool) • Students manipulate letter tiles and sort words to practice during “Word Work” for Daily Five • Remember to study the back side of the spelling list too!
A rime is the part of a syllable which consists of its vowel and any consonant sounds that come after it. The rime for care is -are.The rime for pair is -air.Think of rime as the word family. Rime (word families)at--sat, mat, catad--dad, sad, madot--hot, pot, lotock-clock, rock, sock Rhyme: words who sound as if they come from the same family, but may not: pair/dare/there/care eight/wait/late Rhyme can be from the same word family, such as sat and mat. Rhyme has to do with sound only. Rime vs. Ryhme
Dictation: -sentences read orally and students write on paper what is read aloud Spelling words: -words are read orally and students record Selective Detective: -students detect spelling and grammatical errors in the text and make the appropriate corrections Bonus Round: -extra credit opportunity for students to create an original sentence using one of the words from the weekly list Test Format
