Cascade Renewable Energy Company History: • 1974: Logging and Road construction. Shortly thereafter began contract work for Southern Pacific Railroad (RR) • 1980: Contract w/ Union Pacific RR for emergency response in Pacific NW • 1996: Expanded into Portland Metro Wood / Green Waste Business • Wood Waste Management, City Bark & Recycling, Clackamas Compost & Recycling. These companies now handle 150,000 cubic yards of urban green waste per year which is used in composting operations. Companies also handle 75,000 green tons / year of wood waste which is converted to biomass fuel and sold into industrial boiler fuel markets • 2005: Created Specialized Metal Recycling • Decommission, dismantle, recycle and scrap retired railroad cars and equipment as well as utilizing various other sources of scrap metal for recycling.

Cascade Renewable Energy • Types of Gasifiers • There are three main gasifier classifications into which most of the commercially available gasifiers fall. All combine a feedstock, a gas (usually air, steam, or oxygen), and heat to produce gas and ash or slag. • Fixed (Moving) Bed -- Top Feed • Entrained Flow -- Top Feed – entrained with high pressure (steam, air, oxygen) gases • Fluidized Bed • Fluidized-bed gasifiers suspend feedstock particles in pressurized gas (oxygen, steam, air) so the resulting bed within the gasifier acts as a fluid.
