  4. Develop an Interesting Persona • Conflict gets attention • Ross contradicts himself • Tweet against liberals, then conservatives. Repeat.

  5. Amass a following with auto-followers • Followed 200+ auto-refollowers • Created a pseudo popularity

  6. Spam the Internet • Created a facebook group to promote our twit • Spammed forums, youtube • Swineonline tried to poach followers

  7. Tweet About Trending Topics • "#youmightbealiberalif you've had an abortion while holding back the arm of a baby seal clubber” • This gives our twit exposure to people searching the trends • They appear in 2/3 or our tweets that were retweeted

  8. Churn Popular Twits • Found a list of the 1000 most popular twits • Created a program to follow them all over a period of time, unfollowing the ones that did not reciprocate • This resulted in more exposure

  9. What we Learned • Using auto refollowers worked! • Tweeting a trending topic always resulted in a few extra followers within minutes • Very few of our facebook friends use twitter • We did not cultivate relationships enough • Becoming a popular twit takes time • Twitter users are fickle • We didn’t know how to use twitter
