  2. About Myself • My fifth year • Grew up in Central California

  3. Classroom Rights • Students have the right to learn without interruption. • I have the right to teach without interruption.

  4. Classroom Routines • Line Up Procedures • Bathroom • Homework • Reading Logs

  5. Bathroom • Bathroom breaks occur at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM • Student’s responsibility to use bathroom at these times.

  6. Homework • Homework packet assigned Monday, due at end of week. • Completed homework packet will earn Minney Bucks • Incomplete homework packet will be made up on student’s recess

  7. Reading Logs • Every week students are required to read 15 minutes a night from a comfortable book. • Readings are recorded on their reading logs. Reading logs will be in every homework packet.

  8. Reading Logs • Reading logs are due every Friday with the homework packet. • Please sign the reading logs where indicated. • I encourage you to ask questions to your child about the book they are currently reading

  10. Minney Bucks • Earned by students following procedures • Students putting in extra effort earn incentives • Minney Bucks to be used for Student Store or in-class supplies only!

  11. Management Plan • First & Ten Chart • Beyond if needed

  12. First And Ten Chart • Consists of 4 levels. • All students start the week on First Down. • Students not following classroom procedures given a warning before chart is used

  13. Beyond 4th Down • If on 4th Down and no correction has been made, student receives citation. • 3 citations in one month is an office referral. • I reserve the right to bypass the chart if needed.

  14. Hands Off Policy • A copy of the Hands-Off Policy is in your packet. • Violations of the Hands-Off Policy is an automatic office referral

  16. Language Arts • Instruction consists of Reading, Grammar, Spelling and Writing • Weekly Reading Comprehension Tests • SRI

  17. Writing • Write From the Beginning • Monthly writing prompt used for assessment • Writing assessment rubric • January 4th-29th (?)—Research writing project

  18. Math • Math instruction based on Everyday Math. • Daily math facts practice • Rocket Math • Standards based and assessment driven

  19. Science • FOSS Kits • Water • Ideas & Inventions (Fingerprints) • Magnets and Electricity • Human Body (Bones and Muscles) • Earth and Space

  20. Social Studies • Nevada State History • Constitution & States • Argentina—Gallery Walks (April 29-30)

  21. Grading Policy • Standard Letter Grades • Assignments turned in will be graded as soon as possible and returned as quickly as possible • Assignments not turned in will be classified as missing in grade book and lose one letter grade per day. • Assignment not turned in within 5 school days will be counted as a ‘0’ • Keep track of grades using ParentLink through the District website

  27. Special Events and Birthdays • Three parties each year: • Halloween (October) • Holiday (December) • Valentine’s (February) • Any snacks or treats you wish to donate must conform to the district approved snack list.

  28. Special Events and Birthdays • If you want to send treats for your child’s birthday it must conform with the district approved list. • Any cupcakes or other sweets must be sent back home unopened. • Please give me 48 hours notice if you would like to send treats.
