Attendance • Why sign in? • For the past several years we have had the chapter incentive program to encourage attendance at our meetings. The incentive for 2009 will be the award of two $25 gift certificates for the TimberLodge Restaurant to any member attending six or more regular meetings or brings one new member into the chapter. • For guests or members attending for the first time, this also insures your notification by email of all subsequent events. • SO - BE SURE AND SIGN THE ATTENDANCE LIST! • PLEASE WRITE SO WE CAN READ IT!!

Dr. Magdi Essawy Dr. Magdi Essawy completed his B.S. in EE at El-Menoufia University in 1984, then worked as a research engineer at the National Institute of Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection, Cairo, Egypt. In the same time, he completed his M.S. in EE at Cairo University in 1990. He completed his Ph.D. in NE, with a specialty in applied artificial intelligence and digital signal processing, at U of Tennessee, Knoxville, 1995, and Postdoc in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Tennessee State University, Nashville 1995 to 1999. He taught various engineering courses at Tennessee State and Middle Tennessee State Universities. He was Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Southern University, 1999-2002. Following this, he held several research and development, system engineering, and technical management positions at Ingersoll Rand, General Dynamics, and Honeywell International. Magdi started at Starkey Labs in June 2008 as Manager of System Engineering to help develop the system engineering role in hearing aid development at Starkey.
Dr. Jon Kindred Dr. Jon Kindred completed his B.S. and M.S. in EE at the U of Illinois. In 1985, he began a seven year stint on the technical staff of Universal Recording Corporation, a large recording studio complex in Chicago, where he also taught courses in sound recording at DePaul University and designed a high end audio equalizer. He completed his Ph.D. at Northwestern University in 1996, specializing in digital signal processing for audio. His career in the hearing aid industry then started with a brief tenure at ReSound Corporation before joining Starkey Laboratories in 1998. At Starkey, he has progressed from algorithm development, through management of the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) group, to Vice President of Signals and Systems, having responsibilities for DSP, wireless, hybrid design, and systems.
