Nursing course on Family Systems Instructor gives a brief lecture on topic of the day then shows segments of videos (movies) featuring a family of a different culture dealing with various social and interpersonal issues. At the end of each segment, instructor questions class of its experience or reflection of what was just seen relative to the day’s topic before playing next segment.
Accounting class on Trusts and Taxation Instructor brings in guest speakers who are an authorities on the day’s topic to present to the class for 30-45 minutes. Prior to the presentation, students are told to note certain ideas or give answers to a list of questions based on the speaker’s information. After the presentation, students present their discoveries /answers to the class.
Leisure Science course Instructor shows a video of children with special needs in various outdoor activities. Students are told to watch for certain movements and are polled for suggestions in correcting the movement.
Library Studies course Students are given a case study involving a library and are told to present an analysis and solution based on the day’s lecture.
