Ensuregrades will reflect mastery of content, • Grades will be recorded into PowerSchoolwithin ten school days of the assignment’s due date • The initial score earned for an assignment or assessment on which the student made a concerted attempt with 60% being the minimum score • An initial score of zero (0) to an assignment or assessment on which a student made no attempt or which is missing, • A mastery process will be put into place for formal assessments:-additional practice will be provided for students who do not achieve initial mastery (80%) - Following additional practice, new opportunities shall be provided to measure student mastery. A maximum score of 80% can be earned. Grading and Mastery

Late work and make-up work will be accepted by all teachers: • A student who misses homework or other assignments or due dates because of absences, whether excused or unexcused, will be accepted. Teachers will initiate contact with students to make arrangements for completing the work. This should be made within five school days of the student’s return to school and should include a schedule for completion of the work. • In all circumstances, homework and other assignments should be accepted, even when turned in after the designated due date. Credit for late work shall be awarded according to the following guidelines:1. If the student was present in class on the due date, the work may be givenless credit, 2. If the student was not present in class on the due date because of an excused absence, full credit will be given for the completed work,3. If the student was not present in class on the due date because of an unexcused absence, the work may be given less credit.*less credit equals a deduction of 5 points per day with a maximum of 20 points total and the minimum score being a 60%. • Graded assignments will be aligned with content standards. Students can receive extra credit or bonus points in the upper grades for content specific questions. Assignments

Classwork/Informal Assessments/Homework = 40% of quarter grade*Classwork will include a variety of assignments such as warm-ups, notebook checks, quizzes, group work, in-class tasks, class participation, etc. • Formal Assessments = 60% of quarter grade*Formal assessments must include a variety of assignments such as tests, comprehensive writing assignments, projects, etc. Percentage and Breakdown
