EEE Parts, PWBs & GIDEP • LASP’s EEE Parts Engineer, Cat Brant, will work with the RBSP Parts Control Board to assure that all parts have approval for use. • Will facilitate delivery of as-built parts list • Parts will be procured, and derated, to EEE-INST-002, Level 2 or better • EEE spreadsheets used to track all pertinent information on a part-by-part basis, including TID, SEE, and Displacement Damage ratings • Exceptions will require PCB approval through waivers/deviations • Printed Wiring Boards • Coupon approval shall be obtained prior to population of flight PWBs. • LASP’s GIDEP process described in Alert and Advisory Procedure (103782) • Sharon Dooley is LASP’s Alert and Advisory Coordinator and GIDEP representative. • Single point of contact for entire lab • Disseminates information to all programs EFW INST+SOC PDR
PWA Build Processes • Inspect and remand EEE parts to program-segregated controlled stores • Evaluate PWBs, visual (coupon testing at APL) • EEE component lead-forming • Kitting inspection • Electrical assembly with magnified, 100% visual inspections and photographs at key process points • Aliveness testing • Staking and conformal coating • Final workmanship inspection and photographs • Environmental burn-in • Package and ship EFW INST+SOC PDR
Workmanship Standards • Certifications • NASA-STD-8739.1, Staking and Conformal Coating • NASA-STD-8739.2, Surface Mount Technology • NASA-STD-8739.3, Soldered Electrical Connections • NASA-STD-8739.4, Crimping, Cables and Harnesses • ANSI/ESD S20.20, Electrostatic Discharge Control • LASP QA has certified Level B Instructors for all 5 disciplines • Member of Process-Based Mission Assurance (PBMA) Knowledge Management System EFW INST+SOC PDR
Contamination Control • Cleaning provisions • PWBs cleaned and baked before assembly • Gloves used during all handling • All assembly done at Class 1000 flow-benches • PWAs cleaned prior to conformal coating • All materials compliant with NASA publication 1124 • Packaging and shipping provisions to maintain low • contamination exposure during transport • No items on Materials Identification List (MIL) with • marginal out-gassing /off-gassing characteristics • Finalbake-out process (RGA) EFW INST+SOC PDR
ESD CONTROL PROGRAM • ESDControl Program implemented by LASP QA • Mandatory training by LASP’s NASA-trained Level “B” ESD Control Instructor • Certification of lab users to the LASP ESD Procedure and ANSI/ESD S20.20 • Support for all assembly and test labs to ensure properly ESD-controlled environments EFW INST+SOC PDR
