  7. Target/Achievement of Area, Production and Yield of Oilseeds during 2013-14 * Data are tentative

  8. Requirement/Availability of seeds during Rabi 2013 -14 (in quintal)

  9. Intervention/Strategies for Increasing Pulse and oilseed Production • Coverage with Lentil on the land left fallow after harvesting Ragi . • Distribution of Mini kits for Lentil and Lahi/Sarson • Focused Intensive Extension Efforts for - Timely Distribution of HYV Seeds - 100% Seed Treatment will be ensured - Timely Sowing - Timely availability of input will be ensured - Adoption of proper agronomic practices -

  10. Intervention/Strategies for Increasing Pulse and oilseed Production Strategy for enhancing cost benefit ratio - Promotion of customized fertilizer. - Integrated Pest and Nutrient Management will be promoted. -Promotion of use of micronutrients and biofertilizers • Site Specific Nutrient Management (SSNM) • Use of Single Super Phosphate (SSP) and BentoniteSulfur (20 kg S/ha) as a source of Sulfur to be promoted • Foliar spray of 2% Urea/DAP at the time of flowering in pulses.

  11. Strategy for enhancing cost benefit ratio Intervention/Strategies for Increasing Pulse and oilseed Production • Ensuring basal application of fertilizers/ micronutrients • Seed treatment with bio-fertilizers like PSB and efficient strains of Rhizobium spp. to enhance the availability of phosphorus and nitrogen fixation. • Distribution of Light traps/ pheromone traps. • Application of ArbuscularMycorrizhae/Trichoderma at selected places. • Integrated Weed Management (IWM). • Only contact pesticides will be used. • Bio fencing of fields with aromatic and medicinal plants and thorny shrubs of economic importance.

  12. Strategy for enhancing cost benefit ratio Intervention/Strategies for Increasing Pulse and oilseed Production • Application of lime in acidic soil. • Life saving irrigation at critical stages of crop growth to minimize the adverse effect of moisture stress. • Awareness programme will be conducted at each NyayaPanchayat level for promotion of modern farming techniques among farmers through KRISHAK MAHOTSAVA

  13. Pest/Disease Surveillance Pesticides/biocides in sufficient quantities will be made available before sowing. System of weekly reporting regarding pest attacks is in vogue. Staff of KVKs conduct regular surveys to detect any kind of pest infestation. Due to very low temperature in hills during Rabi season the incidences of pest infestations are very few.
