  1. Welcome to Suankularb Wittayalai Nonthaburi School Thailand and our group code is L7 • First of all, we would like to say “Sawasdee ” which means “Hello” to our lovely friends again. We are still the same group of students who worked for the first Learning Circle. With the limit of time, we could not do the publication in the form of website like the first one. However we hope you enjoy this presentation. • The content in this presentation can be divided into two parts. One is about our responses to each group’s questions, the other is the answers that other groups responded to those questions. Each week in class when we finished writing our answers, our teachers, Mrs.Patcharin Somboonsook and Mr.Elmer Tumacder showed us the e-mails from other groups and we discussed about them. We think Learning Circle is very useful. It provides us a good opportunity to learn and share from each other. We can guarantee that you would learn something like we did when you read the following collected information.

It grew into one of Asia’s most renowned metropolises, inviting comparison with great European cities, such as Paris. In olden days, Ayutthaya emerged as one of the rich ports of Southeast Asia. It sold rice, dried fish, and forest products to other countries in the region. The city has retained its status as a rice bowl of Thailand up to the present day. Thai people are free to practice their religions which are Buddhism, Christian, Islamic and etc. but more than 90 % of the population practice Buddhism.  In our class, we are all Buddhist. 2. Buddhism is different from other religions because there is no God. The Lord Buddha is human being. One important teaching is that we must learn to make ourselves strong both mental and  physical parts because we have to depend on ourselves. We must not depend on gods or fate. The fate is destined by our own action. One deserves what one does. So the main teachings are : Do only good things, Do no evil things and Make your mind (soul) clear (from bad things).  3. Yes, religion is very important because it is the great weapon to stop evil on earth. All religions expect people in the world to live in peace. 25. L8 Vietnam's Question 1.Is generation gap a problem in your country? What to do to overcome it?

  26. L7 responds to L8 1. We think Thailand is a very open country so we are easily affected by the westernization especially on the daily life style. Young people prefer pizza, French fried, fried chicken or hamburgers with coke to rice and curry. They listen to modern music like hip-hop or heavy rock which may annoy the elderly people. They spend most of their time playing computer games or talk on mobile phone . There is less talk in family. The way they  dress is considered not appropriate measured by the old Thai social values. These are some examples of the differences which may lead to generation gap problems and cause conflict in family. 2. To overcome these problems, we think both parents and kids have to find time to spend together and discuss and share ideas on these aspects to find solution or to understand each other. Parents need to have new strategy to educate their kids because they cannot force the kids to listen to them as it used to be in the past. Kids need the explanation with good reasons. So far, the problems are not very serious. People are aware of it.

  27. L5 response L8 Hello hanh nguyen! Are L1 or L8? Anyway, here is our answers in your questions about generation gap. 1.Is generation gap a problem in your country?Yes, because our ancestors like the old fashions/ traditional practices and the new generations likes the new technology/ the latest practices. For example, like us teenagers our grandparents always told us to wear a long pants and, we don't like it because, we are not comfortable to wear it.2. What to do to overcome it?The things to do to overcome this problem is to support the old fashions of our ancestors because some of the old fashions are for our own good. This problem cannot be done so easily because the old generation sticks to the culture and practices, its hard for an older person to accept the changes of the new generation such as modernization like technology and other modren methods. So, we need to accept our differences in beliefs and practices ; and we, the new generations try to adjust and sometimes adopt those practices that may bring good to us. Have a nice day!!!Philippines
