Advisory What is it?
What is advisory • The Advisory Program addresses: • your emotional, physical and educational needs to be successful • strong teacher-student relationships • a positive school climate • It provides an avenue for adult guidance and peer support as you cope with one of life’s more confusing periods
Why are we doing advisory? • To help you have a successful middle school experience. • To help you make a connection between what you do at school and what you plan to do in the future. • To help you build relationships to support you during middle school. • To help you stay connected and motivated at school. • To help prepare you for your student-led conferences.
Is Advisory Graded? • Advisory is graded! • Students receive a grade of a S or U • Teachers will grade selected assignments each week • Does this grade matter? • YES! If you receive a U on your report card in Advisory, it will keep you off of the honor roll.
Our Advisory • What do you want your advisory classroom to look like. Think about what is important to you, your friends, your teacher, and the school. Create a list of expectations that you will use to guide your advisory classroom.
