Advisory Planning 2010 • August – Elliot Washor, Big Picture Learning • September – Staff & Student Work Group • October – Staff Consensus • November – Staff & Student Work Group, Parent Input • January – Present to students in English classes
Advisory Logistics • Single grade level • Class size 20-25 • Same teacher for 4 years • 40 minutes Mon.-Thurs. • 2 days/wk Advisory Content • 2 days/wk study hall, office hours, computer lab, assemblies, class meetings etc. • Length of Day: Red 3:40, White 2:05 • Required attendance and credit bearing
Purpose of Advisory To provide systematic academic advising and college/post high school counseling. To provide social and emotional support for each student. To improve student achievement. To develop a meaningful Personal Education Plan (PEP) for each student.
