1) GEORGE WASHINGTON: • Became the first President of the United States • Led the Continental army to a victory over Great Britain during the Revolutionary War. • Memorialized today through monuments such as Mount Rushmore and the Washington Monument.
2) NATHANIEL GREENE: 1742-1786
2) NATHANAEL GREENE: • Nathanael Greene was a famous Revolutionary War General who was involved in such battles as the Battle of Guilford Courthouse and the Battle of Brandywine.
3) HORATIO GATES: 1727-1806
3) HORATIO GATES: • Gates was a very famous general during the American Revolution who is credited with both the victory at Saratoga and also the crushing defeat at Camden.
4) BENEDICT ARNOLD: 1741-1801
4) BENEDICT ARNOLD: • Benedict Arnold is probably most famous for becoming treasonous against his country, but prior to this he was a competent and effective leader during the Revolutionary War. • He was a very efficient and effective general, though he felt like he did not receive the credit he deserved.
5) LORD CORNWALLIS: • Lord Cornwallis is a British General best remembered for being present at the Battle of Princeton, where the British had to give up.
